Shane was born and bred in the parish of Mullagh which is located in east County Galway. An area famous for producing more hurling All Stars than any other club in Galway it was here that Shane fostered his love of sport. In his youth he competed in every athletic activity that was available, the highlight of which came in 2005 when he was part of the Mullagh side that won the minor county final that year.
A lover of history since childhood Shane graduated in 2009 with a level 7 degree in History & Heritage studies. Since then he has spent much of his spare time travelling, not just abroad but at home too. He has a passion for seeking out and experiencing not only the wonders of the world but the hidden treasures that Ireland has to offer too.
Prior to his introduction to the financial services industry Shane was a professional musician, and for ten years he travelled the length and breadth of the country playing Drums with many exceptional musicians in some of Ireland’s premier music venues.
In 2015 Shane entered the world of financial services and immediately realised that he had found his calling. He quickly received his APA, QFA and RPA qualifications and rose to the position of assistant manager in 2020.
Shane is a big believer in practicing gratitude and giving back as much as possible. This is evident from his work as a volunteer with Claddagh watch, a local group who patrol the waterways and bridges of Galway City at night in an effort to prevent accidents and death and to promote water safety.
